Our new Executive Director, Rabbi Aaron Lerner, is delighted to invite you to High Holy Days at Hillel at UCLA.

This year, we will combine our Traditional and Reform services into one main service!  Here’s what you can expect from Hillel’s new services:

Orthodox Services

Orthodox services are provided by the leaders of our JLIC student community and typically serve our Orthodox students in a less formal environment, though all are welcome. For more information, please contact Rabbi Aryeh at rabbiaryeh@uclahillel.org or 310-871-5526.

High Holy Days Team

is Hillel’s new Executive Director, following three years as Hillel’s Simha and Sara Lainer Senior Jewish Educator. Aaron received ordination from Yeshivat Chovevei Torah as a Wexner Graduate Fellow. He teaches nationwide, integrating Jewish wisdom and modern daily life. He also has more than a decade of commercial real estate finance experience. He and his wife, Dr. Rachel Lerner, are blessed with three daughters, Lily, Gavriella and Ziva.

DR. RACHEL LERNER is Assistant Dean of the Graduate Center for Jewish Education at AJU. She earned her Ed.D. degree from JTS as a Wexner Graduate Fellow, where she studied how vision-guided education is implemented through the socialization of new teachers. Rachel has engaged communities around the world as an educator and service leader.

DANIELLE NATELSON, Hillel’s Simha and Sara Lainer Director of Jewish Learning and Leadership, lives and breathes Jewish communal work. A day school graduate and UC Berkeley alum, she has spent every summer since 4th grade at Camp Ramah in California. She loves sports and has a passion for singing. She currently helps lead Hillel’s A Capella group, Jewkbox.

ZACH GOLDEN is a rabbinical student at American Jewish University. He is an experienced high holiday leader and a graduate of Macalester College in St. Paul, MN. He takes a lot of joy out of soccer, singing, and listening to his shortwave radio.

RABBI ARYEH KAPLAN & SHARONA KAPLAN, MSW (Orthodox Services) are serving in their 12th year representing the Jewish Learning Initiative on Campus (JLIC) at Hillel at UCLA. JLIC is a national partnership between Hillel and the Orthodox Union that places an Orthodox, Rabbinic couple on select campuses to serve as Torah Educators and mentors for Jewish students. Bringing with them expansive experience in Jewish education, programming, community building and engagement, the Kaplans’ warmth and passion inspire students and community members alike.


Parking and Directions

All Services will be held at Hillel at UCLA
, 574 Hilgard Avenue, Los Angeles 90024.


Parking for Hillel at UCLA is located at UCLA’s Lot 2 at the corner of Hilgard and Westholme, just south of Hillel on the opposite side of the street. Please see the attendant at the kiosk for daily rates ($12/day or $5/day for handicap placards) or proceed to pay-by-space areas by following the signs.

In times of high traffic, you may be directed to Lot 3 at the north end of Hilgard.

Limited Street Parking will also be available in honor of the holidays except as noted below.  Please read carefully.  Illegally parked vehicles will be ticketed or towed at owners’ expense.

• No Parking at Hillel
• No Parking on the 600 block of Thayer Avenue
• No Parking on Strathmore Drive between Hilgard and Warner
• No Parking on the 600 block of Westholme.
• No Parking in red zones or at street meters.

As mentioned, limited restricted parking is EXEMPT for the High Holy Day Services on the streets surrounding Hillel (except for streets above) between the boundaries of Hilgard, Wyton, Le Conte, Woodruff, and Holmby.



We are happy to provide childcare for children ages 6 months to 10 years of age during our services.  Advance registration is required to confirm availability.  $18 per child per day.  Please see the REGISTER NOW link above to reserve.
