Shabbat at Hillel

Shabbat Happens! at Hillel at UCLA every Friday evening when school is in session. There are three services to choose from: Liberal (Reform), Traditional (Conservative), and Orthodox. Students are also welcome to just join us for dinner!

Orthodox services are also held every Saturday morning, followed by a free Shabbat lunch, and various afternoon programs.

The joy of Shabbat is felt through sharing a spiritual experience, meeting new people over a communal meal, and joining in on the Friday Night Chill with programs including guest speakers, comedy acts, themed Shabbats, or just hanging out.

(Go to the Events Calendar for Shabbat Details)

A delicious kosher dinner follows Shabbat services. Dinner is FREE for UCLA students and RSVP is required so we can prepare enough food!    If you attend another college or will be a guest RSVP here. A variety of programs are offered to students after services to strengthen their connection with Judaism or to have fun and hang out.  For information about our communities, please contact our Associate Director for Jewish Student Life,  Arlene Miller.

Students who are interested in leading a service or organizing an additional service should contact our Shabbat Chair,
 Rachel Schlossberg.

Check out our  Events Calendar for dates, times, and Friday Night Chill details.

Our Shabbat program is made possible by the generous gifts of Peachy and Mark Levy, Angelica Berrie and Lou Colen.
