Rabbi Chaim Seidler-Feller is in his 34th year at UCLA Hillel as director. He previously served as Hillel Director at Ohio State and as Rabbi of Congregation Ahavat Achim, New Bedford, Massachusetts. He was ordained in 1971 at Yeshiva University where he also earned a Masters Degree in Rabbinic Literature. He loves the constant challenges presented by students who consistently and persistently ask the most interesting questions. He is a known book collector and is married to Dr. Doreen Seidler-Feller, a clinical psychologist, and is the father of Shulie who studies photography at NYU and Shaul, planning to go to Yeshiva.
Carol Bar-Or, 310-208-3081 x224
Associate Director
carol@uclahillel.org
Carol has worked in non-profit management for over two decades. Soon after completing her studies at UCLA, Carol moved to Israel in 1980 to pursue her interest in her cultural heritage, returning to Los Angeles three years later to undertake her Masters in Public Administration. While studying for her masters, Carol worked as Director of the Western Regional office of the American Zionist Youth Foundation where she was able to harness her commitment and experience towards Israel and Israel-based programs. Completing her Masters in 1986, Carol joined the staff of the Jewish Federation Council as Director of the Committee for Programs in Israel (CPI) and remained in that role for seven years. After leaving CPI, Carol focused her energy on fundraising in support of the Women's Division of JFC and American Friends of Hebrew University. Currently, Carol is in her eleventh year at UCLA Hillel as its Associate Director. She currently resides in the San Fernando Valley and has three children, Dalit, Tali and David.
Arlene Miller, 310-208-3081 x101
Associate Director for Jewish Student Life
arlene@uclahillel.org
From Georgia to Argentina, and Israel to Portugal, Arlene has lived, traveled, and studied in many places and is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. Arlene joined the Hillel at UCLA staff in July 2005 and although new to Los Angeles, she was an integral part of Hillel of Silicon Valley for 5 years as the Program Director and for the latter years, the Executive Director. She earned a BA in Fine Arts from Brandeis University and an MFA in Ceramic Sculpture from University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. In addition to the arts, Arlene has a passion for engaging, empowering, and building campus Jewish communities. When not at Hillel, Arlene can be found at her neighborhood knitting café or exploring the arts and culture of LA. She lives in Studio City with her husband, Lee, son Max, and 125lb dog, Barney.
William Calder, 310-208-3081 x211
Associate Director of Operations
william@uclahillel.org
Raised in Vancouver - where he received a BBA, William became the black sheep of his large medical family by running off to the film-producing program at The American Film Institute in Hollywood. Although his musical aspirations were limited to high school tuba, for ten years William was the COO of a Hollywood/Nashville record label best known for Liberace and the 80's hit: Tainted Love.
Changing rhythm, William worked in Casting and Business Affairs at Sony Entertainment's TV studio (Columbia Pictures Television) - and most recently as a talent agent for celebrity commercial endorsements (anyone remember Lost in Translation?). Having taken a year off after major back surgery, William weighed several options to avert a mid-life crisis: write a therapeutic script about his wacky Tinsel Town experiences, go to UCLA for an MBA or law degree (and make his father proud), or totally change careers - again! - by working at an uplifting non-profit with fun colleagues. (Or perhaps do all of the above if his vitamins kick in.)
Perla Karney, 310-208-3081 x108
Artistic Director
perla@uclahillel.org
Perla was born and raised in Germany and educated in Switzerland and Paris. She is an alumni of UCLA where she received her BA in Liberal Studies. She then went to Loyola Marymount University where she did graduate work in English Literature. Prior to her position as Artistic Director of the Dortort Center, Perla was a theater producer in Los Angeles. Fluent in several languages, Perla's passion is reading literature in English and German.
Yael Cohen, 310-208-3081 x400
Manager, Coffee House & Tea Lounge
yael@uclahillel.org
Douglas Coleman, 310-208-3081 x218
Facilities
Douglas has been with us for over 25 years. He knows every nook and cranny of our facility and is always lending a helping hand. He truly enjoys being part of our Hillel family and enjoys meeting the new students every year. At Hillel's Annual Gala Dinner in January 2008, Douglas was honored for his service with the following tribute by Rabbi Chaim and Carol: "Several generations of the Hillel Family join us in thanking you for years of boundless energy, unfailing devotion, unshakable patience and heart-warming vigilance as the Guardian of the Gate at Hillel."
 Rabbi Aryeh & Sharona Kaplan, 310-208-3081 x102

JLIC is a partnership between the Orthodox Union and Hillel, designed to provide students with opportunities to explore Judaism firsthand through text study, classes, prayer and Shabbat and holiday experiences. Aryeh & Sharona met during high school in their hometown of Teaneck, NJ. After studying in Israel and at Yeshiva University in New York, the couple moved to Los Angeles in September 2004. They are the parents of Shalva and Barak, some of the youngest members of Hillel at UCLA!
Sandra Lollino, 310-208-3081 x214
Development Assistant
sandra@uclahillel.org
Sandra joined Hillel at UCLA as a part time Development Assistant in June 2005. She had left her event and meeting planning business to pursue her desire to somehow make a difference for people and animals. Sandra researched the best way she could use her experience to fulfill her passion and fundraising was a natural fit. When Hillel of UCLA offered her a part time position assisting with their fundraising she couldn't be happier. She has been grateful to work with such a wonderful supportive staff and gain experience in the fundraising industry. Her employment has allowed her the time to start up the non profit Four Legged Friends Foundation www.flff.org which provides public awareness, funding and volunteers for programs that assist people through the positive influence of animals. She is also enrolled in the UCLA Dual Certification Program in Public Relations and Fund Raising. Sandra received her bachelor's degree of Mechanical Engineering from Loyola Marymount University in 1991, an Executive Management Certificate from the UCLA Anderson School of Management in 2002.

Anat joined the Jewish agency in 2007 and is participating in the International Israel Fellow Program.
