Volunteering and Career Development
Career Israel
A professional internship program open to college/university graduates from all over the world. The 5-12 month program provides internship placements in leading companies and organizations in the private and public sectors in Israel in every field including law, medicine, media, economics, politics, public relations, education, social work, engineering, computer science, advertising and business and more. The program also includes accommodations, a Hebrew study program, tours and extracurricular enrichment activities.
Israel Government Fellows
A unique leadership program for exceptional candidates who seek to engage in public service. The 10-month program provides internship experience in one of three branches of Israel’s government: executive, legislative or judicial. Participants are placed in fellowships in various ministries and government branches, and are mentored by a government official. Fellows attend weekly seminars and activities and travel throughout the country to meet with Israeli officials, policy makers, journalists, and a wide range of other public figures.
OTZMA
OTZMA is a 10-month program designed to offer Jewish adults ages 20-26 (college graduates preferred) an opportunity to live and volunteer in Israel in a variety of settings. The year is divided into "tracks" and is designed to give participants the opportunity to serve in various environments. Tracks of the program include: Track I-Absorption Center, Track II-Community Service, and Track III-Social Action Work Experience.
WUJS Peace & Social Justice
This program is for those interested in exploring the fields fo peace, democratic development and social justice in Israel, in the context of a Jewish and Zionist learning environment. During the first three months, participants take courses in Judaism, Zionism and Hebrew. During the second semester, participants enage in grassroots work being done in Jerusalem through an internship in an approved social change organization.
WUJS Intern in Tel Aviv
The internship program based exclusively in Tel Aviv enables young adults to immerse themselves in the arts, leisure and culture that have defined Tel Aviv as a leading Mediterranean city and trend-setting metropolis and live in trendy Southern Tel Aviv apartments. Participants have the opportunity to combine a professional internship in their fields of choice with the additional benefits of a regular Ulpan (Hebrew language) course, weekly field trips, overnight hikes, meetings with Israeli peers, and many fun and enriching activities. Internships are available in almost any area of industry and commerce, in the public and private sectors, in organizations focused on art and culture, the hi-tech industry, politics and much more.

Intensive Arabic Immersion

LIFE
A unique service learning experience for Jews from around the world based in Israel with a four-month stay in India. Train for 2 months in Israel and then learn and pursue social justice-focused internships in India and Israel. The core themes of learning include development studies, leadership and civil society, and Judaism and Israel/Zionism. Participants will develop social vision and leadership skills, while learning from and working to advance the interests of people in vulnerable communities abroad. The option to receive extra training at the Israeli Training Center for Mind-Body Skills will also be available.
Arava Institute for Environmental Studies
The Arava Institute for Environmental Studies is the premier environmental teaching and research program in the Middle East, preparing future Arab and Jewish leaders to cooperatively solve the region's environmental challenges. Students explore a range of environmental issues from a regional, interdisciplinary perspective while learning peacebuilding and leadership skills. Studies at the Arava Institute are international in scope, with a student body comprised of Jordanians, Palestinians, Israelis, North Americans and others. The Arava Institute gives Jewish, Arab and other students a unique opportunity to study and live together for an extended period of time. In so doing, our students build networks and understanding that will enable future cooperative work and activism in the Middle East and beyond. Students explore a wide range of environmental issues from a regional and interdisciplinary perspective, while learning peacebuilding and leadership skills.
Eco-Israel
Spend 5.5 months living at an environmental educational center and ecological farm in central Israel, creating a dynamic self-reliant community - together with Israeli volunteers - developing a strong connection with the diversity of Israeli landscapes – human and natural. Working the land is done in tune with the seasonal flow and holiday celebrations of the agricultural Hebrew calendar. Essential activities include bed preparation, planting, weeding, harvesting, fertilizing, and tool maintenance on five garden plots, each between a quarter-acre to half-acre in size, and in our greenhouse. Learn about Vermicompost, use and care of garden tools, irrigation techniques soil fertility management, plant botany, seed industry and preservation, social issues in modern agriculture, environmental issues in modern agriculture, herbal medicines, and climatic building methods (mud houses, recycled insulation, climatic ventilation and lighting systems, etc.)
Arts
WUJS Arts
Drawing inspiration from Jerusalem, participants combine studies in Judaism, Zionism and Hebrew language with their own personal art medium, such as visual art, music, photography, writing, and performing. Participants are fully integrated into the WUJS Jerusalem Learning program. Artists will have the option of spending time at WUJS' artists' studio, the Center Stage Theater at Merkaz Hamagshimim Hadassah. They may present their work at two exhibitions during the year.
Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music
Israel’s largest independent professional music school for the advanced study of contemporary music. Students choose from among eight majors in various disciplines of performance, composition and production. During the 10 month program students take classes, participate in master classes, and join ensembles alongside Israeli students.
Dance Journey
The Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company (KCDC) International Dance Center and The Dance and Ballet School now offer an exclusive apprenticeship program for students and graduates alike with a strong background and passion for dancing. The curriculum emphasizes ballet as its foundational language, complimented with extensive training in past and current forms of modern dance, ethnic dance studies, improvisation and composition. Program features also include training in choreography and dance history and music taught by internationally renowned dance teachers and choreographers, as well as accommodation in the Dance Village on Kibbutz Gaaton. Students will be considered for the KCDC BFA program.
Budokan: Martial Arts & Israel Leadership Program
A 5 month program (with start dates in October and March), which combines training in a variety of martial arts, Jewish studies seminars with built-in weekly field trips, volunteering at Budo for Peace, "mifagshim" with Israeli, Christian, Muslim, and Beduoin groups, opportunities to train at Israeli clubs, and 400 hours of Hebrew lessons, for which participants can earn up to 25 academic credits. At the end of their training, participants who qualify may receive a sports leadership certificate, which necessitates taking courses in physiology, anatomy, psychology, health and fitness. Students may also be graded in martial arts depending on which martial arts they do. Option to learn about educational program in teaching values and coexistence. Facilities are located at the Ulpan Akiva, Green Beach in Netanya with easy access to Tel Aviv. Students with or without prior martial arts training are encouraged to apply.

WUJS Jerusalem Learning
The Jerusalem Ulpan program, coupled with extensive courses in Judaism and Zionism are all conducted in a pluralist open-minded environment. Weekly field trips, overnight hikes, meetings with Israeli peers, volunteer options, and a variety of fun and enriching activities are included.
Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies
Pardes is a dynamic center of Jewish learning where post-university students engage in Torah study in a non-judgmental, non-coercive environment of open inquiry and spiritual searching, which allows participants to develop their own deep and personal connection to Jewish heritage. Pardes is renowned for building lifelong friendships and a sustained community. Communal meals, social activities and student-initiated programs foster relationships outside of the classroom. In addition to teaching, the internationally recognized men and women educators serve as mentors, advisors and role models for students. Close personal relationships with faculty members are a hallmark of the Pardes experience. Students can choose full or part-time learning and extra-curricular activities.
Graduate Programs
Hebrew University Graduate Programs -in Jerusalem
The Division of Graduate Studies offers semester, one-year and two-year MA programs in English for graduate students. The diverse academic offerings are complemented by a variety of exciting extracurricular activities including seminars and tours. Graduate programs are offered in conjunction with the faculties of humanities and social sciences. Courses are taught in English. Programs in Jewish Education, Community Leadership and Philanthropy Studies, Israeli Politics and Society, Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies, the Bible and its World, and Religious Studies and Jewish Civilization.
Bar Ilan University - in Ramat Gan
Conflict Management and Negotiation Program is an English Language one-semester program that provides an array of academic courses, workshops, seminars and negotiating simulations aimed at deepening the understanding of conflict studies. The program is fully accredited by the university, and a detailed curriculum will be provided to facilitate recognition at academic institutions around the world.
International MBA offers its participants the opportunity to be taught by a distinguished faculty drawn from the local and international academic community and to study together with other individuals from around the world. Students are given a global perspective together with real world applications that allows them to master the complexities of today's increasingly more sophisticated world of business. A thriving alumni association facilitates networking between graduates in Israel and in the United States.
Ben Gurion University - in Be'er Sheva
M.A. Program in Middle East Studies is a year-long program in English designed to train students in cross-disciplinary approaches to the study of the Middle East and North Africa.
M.A. in Desert Studies/Environmental Studies is a specialized two-year program in conjunction with Ben-Gurion University's Albert Katz International School for Desert Studies. The program has a desert ecology track and a social sciences track. Course and thesis research focus on a variety of regional environmental issues.
Tel Aviv University
M.A. in Middle Eastern Studies is designed for academically qualified students who are interested in getting an accredited M.A. degree in Middle Eastern history, and aims to give students a detailed, intelligent and objective understanding of the political and social history of the Middle East. Students participating in the M.A. program are required to take 9 seminars, Hebrew and Arabic and submit a thesis.
IDC - in Herzliya
International MBA program offers a curriculum with a strong international component and provides students with training in international and region-specific modules. Bringing together an acclaimed faculty from universities around the world, the program offers a rigorous curriculum consisting of 9 semesters, each 6 weeks. Students specialize in International Business or Entrepreneurship. Classes are taught in English.
M.A. in Government program offers two tracks: Diplomacy and Conflict Studies or Counter-Terrorism and Homeland Security Studies.
TASP (Teach and Study Program)
TASP is a 2 year teach and study graduate program whose aim is to bring English speaking college graduates to Israel to significantly impact the lives of Israeli school children by instructing them in English during the regular school day. The program includes: an M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, teaching English in the public schools, studying Hebrew and most importantly experiencing day to day life in a vibrant and dynamic multicultural society as they live like Israelis.
