Growing up we do not realize what we have: the opportunity to have an education; the privilege of living in a house; the honor of having two loving parents. All of these things have pushed me to strive for only the best in everything I do, and without this support I would never be studying at my dream school UCLA.
These last few months have had a greater impact on me than any other time in my life. I have begun to find myself and mature through life on my own, getting involved in Jewish life on campus in a number of ways including Hillel Leadership, Jewish Fellowships, AEPi (the Jewish Fraternity), Bruins For Israel, and many other organizations. Being surrounded by so many communities that want to make a difference has empowered me to search for my own ways to do so as well. Within the Hillel community there are a number of opportunities to reach out to other communities, one of which is Alternative Spring Break.
The ASB program is a way for me to touch some of the most underprivileged people in the world. We will be going to Jamaica for a week to build the community in a number of ways, such as helping with building projects, developing parks, and working with local children, and I would love to leave them feeling supported and loved the same way that my parents and background has done for me. Our trip will not be long, but I believe that any amount of time spent helping other people will make a difference. Seeing the results of our work will be an experience we will all treasure forever and value above any monetary sum. Which is why I have scraped together and committed $250 of my own money to pay for this trip, but I must fundraise an additional $1500 to participate. I ask you to please consider a contribution to my NationBuilder donation page (link below). Any amount, even a dollar, will help and is greatly appreciated!
I am very excited to take part in this once-in-a-lifetime adventure and can't wait to share the pictures and experience with all of you :)
Thank you so much for all the support!
